If you've always dreamed of getting your hair done at a high end downtown salon in the city, well girl, your dreams have come true. Owners Olivia and Evan Porter have worked diligently over the past few years so those of us in little ol' Southern Illinois could have that Carrie Bradshaw moment every 6 weeks. The vibe of the salon isn't the only thing that sets The Avenue apart from it's competition. They are a Kevin Murphy exclusive salon, have an incredibly talented team of stylists and barbers, they are a no waste salon, they give back to the community.

The interior of the salon is a perfect design blend of modern and industrial elements. The Porters took a nearly hundred year old building and gave it a beautiful facelift while still keeping some original quirks. When you enter the salon, you'll be wowed by the open space, shiny concrete floors, and modern mirrors. While you wait for your appointment, you can sit comfortably in the waiting area without feeling cramped or crowded, take a tour of the roughly 7000 square feet space or browse our retail shelves. The Avenue carries Kevin Murphy and Depot grooming products. Kevin Murphy is a high performing haircare line that uses the cleanest ingredients possible and is kind to the environment. Depot is a men's grooming line that not only performs well because of the high quality ingredients but also looks amazing on display.

Another thing that sets The Avenue apart is the team environment. All of the stylists and barbers work well together, are professional and highly educated in their specialty. This was the number one thing that drew me into working there. Everyone enjoys their job and that translates into their work and the client experience..if you have ever been a client in a high drama salon, you know exactly what I am talking about.

The Avenue is also part of the Green Circle Salons. Being a Green Circle partner means that our salon is able to repurpose and dispose salon waste, like foils, hair clippings and any left over color so that it doesn't end up in landfills! Last year alone, the Avenue was able to divert 450 lbs of solid waste and almost 30 lbs of chemical waste.

I joined the Avenue team in July of this year. It has singlehandedly been the best decision I have ever made for my career and I believe my clients feel that too. If you'd like to read more about The Avenue, Kevin Murphy, Depot or Green Circle, I'll link them below.
